Feeback

I thought that overall this class was good and we learned about many different cultures and did different things like the blog which was very nice. On the other hand I didnt like the presentation being so long, i think that it should be shorter in order to do different activities from other culture, because otherwise people get bored and loose interest at the end of the class.

Australia apology to Aborigines

From what i learned about this story is that Australia is announcing its first formal apology to the Aboriginal people and it is aimed at the "Stolen Generations" where Aboriginal children were taken away from their parents to be raised by white families. This awful incident ocurred between 1915 and 1969.

For that the Aboriginal have been seeking a billion-dollar nationwide compensation package, and eventhough this seems like something good that the government could do in order to improve the lives of the aboriginal, "the government has ruled this out, instead promising to fund improved education and health care facilities for Aboriginal communities".

I actually think that eventhough the government has made a formal apology it is not enought to heal the awful years that these people had to go through, and that is why i think that they should have bigger benefits and i do think that they should receive a compensation.

Trade Unions in Europe and Colombia

Trade unions have been around for a long time, in Europe it can be trazed back to 1870 when some trade unions started in Germany and France and in Colombia can be dated back to the early 1900. Their purpose wherever they may be from, has been to achieve common goals such as better working conditions and promote the interests of the working people.

In Europe, Trade Union federations from different countries are represented in the European Union as the ETUC(European Trade Union Confederation) and it is very important in europe because it works with the European commision, council, parlament, so we see that ETUC promotes and is efficient in making proccess for the workers.

On the other hand we see that colombia is a bit different in that every Trade Union is responsible for itself and has its own interest depending on the interests of the workers. Some trade unions in colombia are:
CUT - Central Unitaria de Trabajdores de Colombia
CGT - Confederación General del Trabajo - General Labor Confederation
CGTD - Confederación General de Trabajadores Democráticos - Democratic Workers General Confederation
CTC - Confederación de Trabajddores de Colombia - Colombian Workers Confederation
CPC - Confederación de Pensionados de Colombia - Colombian Pensioners Confederation

With what was said above we can see that Trade Unions are necessary in order to insure that the workers intersts are met. Also we see that Trade Unions in Colombia and Europe differ in that in Europe the Trade Unions are represented by one big organism which is the ETUC and in Colombia the federations represent themselves depending on their needs.

E-Commerce from an Islamic perspective

In order to understant how E-commerce is viewed from an islamic perspective we have to be clear on what E-commerce means, an it "consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks"! (1). It is not as easy for the muslims because they rigously follow their religion and in this especific case the muslims dont know wheter E-commerce is acceptable by the Syariah, which is the Islamic Law. Some aspects are very important when talking about E-commerce because some issues such as credit cards, payments, interest and also interaction between the parties have to be taken into account in order to allow E-commerce for the muslims. All of the things mentioned above are very important to the followers of the Islam, but what i found is that even though the muslims are very religious they can still use E-commerce with some sort of guidelines.

BOBs Award

When asked to do this blog i had no idea what i was going to find, but i actually found that blogs can be very different from the ones we are doing. An example of this is the blog that i though was the best, the name of the blog is Mapping Main Street. The idea of this is that "Mapping Main Street is a collaborative documentary media project that creates a new map of the country through stories, photos and videos recorded on actual Main Streets". I also found out that there are over 10466 streets named main, and that is exactly why i though that this project or this blog is the best because it is trying to show how all of the main streets across the us are different and not only that but they are being showed differently by everyones point of view. This blog is different and lets everyone interact with each other, either by their opinions, photos or videos.

Sales person in Colombia

With the four aspects of leadership behavior, we see that a sales persons in colombia, is very much commited to work hard for a company but this commitment can be affected directly with how well the company is treating them and also how much they are earning, otherwise they may leave for better opportunities. Also a sales person in Colombia does not have all the information necessary to do his best job, this is for the fact that a company does not assing an especific type of job. An example of this can be when a sales person does the messenger or the assitant job. Also a sales persons can have some type of power in the company because of the fact that when they are with clients, alone, they are the image of the company and they can somehow do whatever they please. This last part is the individualism of the four aspects, which is very important because i think that not everyone is a good sales persons, people in this type of job have to be able to react rapidly, also be very liked by their clients and most important, they have to achieve enough trust of their company to allow them to show their capacities in order to achieve their goal.

The allegator river story

This is my list going from the offensive ones to the least objectionable:

1. Abigail: I thought she was the worst, because there are some other things that you can do in order to achieve what you want, you dont have to do something your going to regret in the future to get what you want.

2.Sinbad: I think that him taking advantage of abigail was very wrong, knowing that she was desperate.

3. Slug: First of all he had nothing to do with the problem and second there is no reason why he should hit someone.

4. Ivan: Because he had nothing to do in the problem

5. Gregory: Because he had no idea what was happening and the girl that he loved cheated on him, that is why his feelings, in my perspective was correct

Best Blog

I though after reading the different blogs that the best blog was from Sebastian Ballen, because it showed a very complete explanation of the corporation and how they work and also the difference between humans and corporations regarding to the legal rights, and also where the line should be drawn in the legal aspect.

Corporation

4. What are the benefits of the corporate form? Could an alternative model offer these as well?

The corporate forma can have many benefits but can also have some disadvantages. Some of the benefits are:

1. Limited Liability, that says that the owners, or shareholders, of a corporation are not liable for the debts and obligations of a corporation. This means that, as normal rule, creditors of a corporation can not hold the shareholders responsible for the debts of the corporation. If the corporation can not pay its creditors, then the creditors have no right to claim payment from the shareholders.

2. Ownership Easily Transferable, this means that qwnership of a corporation is transferred easily by transferring the shares. It can be as simple as endorsing the back of the share certificate in favour of the new owner of the shares.

3. A corporation also has Perpetual Existence, since a corporation is a separate legal entity from the shareholders, the corporation can have perpetual existence. It continues as a corporation in law even if the ownership of the corporation itself changes.

3. Also has tax advantages, in some cases not all, there can be a tax advantage to operating a business through a corporation as opposed to a sole proprietorship, a partnership or some other form. If a corporation qualifies as a small business and has active income, then it can take advantage of the small business deduction and pay income taxes at a substantially reduced rate.

4. It can also be able to raise capital faster than some other forms, this happens for a number of reasons. It is easier than a partnership or sole proprietor because lenders are more willing to lend capital to a corporation.

There are generally three common business structures that are used, which are:
1. sole proprietorship
2. a partnership
3. a corporation

We can see that all of them have some points in common but not all of them have as many benefits as those of the corporation. But even though it has more benefits it also has some disadvantages, like it is greater regulations by authority, it could cost more, it also has to keep records that authority asks for in order for everything to be checked.

Relationship between national identity and corporate culture?

In order to find a relationship between national identity and corporate culture we have to define the two. National identity is the term used to describe the attachment people feel to their nation in other words is a sense of and pride in the character of ones nation. And corporate culture is the set of values, beliefs, and relationships between individuals and functions that guide the decisions of the company in order to achieve its objectives. The relationship I find in this two is that a way to have national identity is to have corporate culture, this happens becase if we have good values and beliefs in the way we want to achieve the objectives of a company we are having national identity because we want to make our company better and if we make our company better we are also helping our country therefore we are having national identity.
